The latest happenings in World of the Magic Sunglasses

Latest events

Since the prelaunch of The Magic Sunglasses in Jan 2009, we have attended many author events in Schools, Libraries and Bookshops.  Schools attended include Southmead Primary, Farnham Green, Whybridge, St. Georges, Halfway Houses, St Matthews, St Clement Danes.  Libraries including Havering, Mayfair, Hatch End, Queens Park, Stanmore, and South Hornchurch.  We have also attended author signings in Waterstones and Borders.  These events have been presented to more than 1500 children including photos taken of all events and videos taken of the larger events. 

There was a series of author events at Waterstones in Wandsworth with local schools in February and March, featuring a Magic Sunglasses bookmark competition. Winning entries were displayed in the children's book department in Waterstones.

The Waterstones school event held on 26th and 27th February was really successful. The children enjoyed themselves and participated fully. Pictures of the children posing in the sunglasses and a video of the event show what a successful time was had by all - further Waterstones school events are being planned!

Other school library events are being organised in London and Greater London.

World Book Day 5th March

An event took place at Farnham Green School, Seven Kings, Ilford on World Book Day.  Auriel read to the children from the book, heard their views and signed many books. The event was organised by Redridge Library - department of Culture and Community Learning.

Other Achievements

Central libraries and recreation centres, have been contacted in all London boroughs, and ongoing interactive events arranged including “Chatterbooks” groups

Events with libraries, schools and bookshops, are ongoing

Auriel was interviewed on BBC South morning programme with Joe Talbot, and was also interviewd on video on The Book Channel TV

Auriel Blanche has applied to join RIF UK storyteller list

A trial Prize T-shirt draw initiative with national party planners is currently taking place
